On Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th of January 2013 a DMC regional Race was held at the Indoor Racetrack of the MAC-Mettenheim. In the German DMC the club belongs to the region south, which includes the two federal states Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. It’s located one hour eastern from Munich.
The Club
owns an attractive mid-size carpet track which they build up in the gym of a
local Elementary School, several times during the winter season. It’s footprint
is around 300m² with the dimensions of 12m in wide and 25m in length. Racing on
their technical Layout demands full concentration, with sharp corners and fast,
flowing section alternating.
During the
summer season they open their big outdoor Track. This surely is one of the most
beautiful and challenging Rc Car Tracks in Germany. Only a few minutes away
from the outdoor Rc Car Track you also have the opportunity can to go to a huge
and spectacular outdoor Kart Racetrack.
Take a look
at the Club's Homepage: www.mac-mettenheim.de

With 57 entries
in 7 different classes it was a well visited event. Offering the 4 Touring Car
classes Modified (HEGTWMO), Sport (HEGTWSP), Hobby (HEGTWHO) and Bayerncup as
well as the Pancar classes 1/12EB (Stock), 1/12EA (Modified) and 1/10EGT (Euro
GT = 200mm wide Pro 10).
Compared to
their last indoor DMC race in January 2012 they had an addition of 10 entries and
even 15 entries more than in January 2011. With 5 competitors in 1/12 Mod and 8
in 1/12 Stock the classes were well visited. Hopefully there is an uptrend in
1/12 scale as the attendance usually is very varying.
I’m a bit confused
about the DMC TW Hobby class, which out of no reason isn’t very well running. Here
you can race with the same equipment than in the LRP Challenge, where there are
usually many entries. Also it’s very similar to the “Einsteiger” class in the “Bawü-Cup”
and the “Hobby” class in the “Bayerncup”, which both run well.
Looks like
word spread around that the people in Mettenheim not only build up a nice track
but furthermore do a good job around the whole event. In the paddock the
atmosphere among the drivers was friendly and relaxing. The prices on food were
very affordable. As it’s kind of a tradition in Bavaria they offered “Leberkäse
in roll” at the kitchen. What I also like are their Coffee Mugs featuring a
printing of their Outdoor Track Layout. On the other hand the guys at the
timekeeping and the technical inspection did a great job as they are familiar with
this work. We only had a delay of half an hour on Saturday evening what didn’t
really matter.
I participated in 1/12EB, a Stock class with reduced motor power. We race 10.5T brushless motors with 1S Lipo batteries (3,7V) and speed controllers without power programs (“blinky mode”). Here’s the setup I ended with for the final heats on Sunday afternoon with my Asso RC12R5.2.
